A member of the Strasbourg Bar since 2005 and a Rechtsanwalt at the Freiburg im Breisgau Bar since 2001, Jochen BAUERREIS is the founding partner and managing director of abci Avocats | Rechtsanwälte, with offices in both France and Germany.
He advises French and German companies as well as international groups in matters of international, European, and Franco-German business law. His areas of expertise include cross-border mergers and acquisitions (M&A), the negotiation and drafting of multilingual international contracts (French, German, and English), cross-border corporate structuring, and international litigation and arbitration — both institutional and ad hoc — in which he acts as counsel and arbitrator.
Jochen BAUERREIS holds a Master’s degree in Business Law (University of Strasbourg, 1998) and a Doctorate in Private International Law (Universities of Strasbourg and Freiburg im Breisgau, 2000). In 2003, he earned his habilitation to supervise research (HDR) from the University of Strasbourg. Earlier in his career, he studied modern languages (French, Spanish) and classics (Latin) at the University of Erlangen–Nuremberg (1992) before successfully completing the two German State Law Examinations (1997 and 2001).
An Honorary Professor at the University of Freiburg since 2008, Jochen BAUERREIS has also served as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Strasbourg since 2001, where he teaches Franco-German business law, European company law, and international arbitration law.
Jochen BAUERREIS is bilingual in German and French and also advises clients in English and Spanish.

In addition to his work as a Franco-German attorney and university lecturer :
Jochen BAUERREIS serves on the Board of Directors of GIE LEXTEAM, is a member of the Steering Committee (Comité de Direction) of AARPI ALISTER AVOCATS, acts as spokesperson for the ALISTER International Division (Cellule Internationale), and is a co-founder of the international network a-Global.
He is also a member of several professional organizations, including the German Bar Association (DAV), the French Committee for Private International Law (Comité français de droit international privé), the French Arbitration Association (Association Française d’Arbitrage – AFA), and the German-French Lawyers’ Association (DFJ).
Outside of work, he is passionate about Corsica, where he enjoys the Mediterranean way of life between the sea and the mountains. He is also an enthusiast of contemporary literature and recently published his first novel — a thriller.
